Questions & Answers

Common questions

Health, KUSA papers, temperament, collection, courier options, and how a reservation works.

Are Lochariko puppies registered with KUSA?

Yes. All Lochariko Golden Retriever puppies are registered with the Kennel Union of Southern Africa (KUSA). Each new family receives the official KUSA registration certificate. A breeding restriction is placed on all pet puppies, which can be lifted in future if comprehensive orthopedic and veterinary health clearances meet strict criteria.

What veterinary care and health checks are included before collection?

Every puppy is vet-checked by our licensed veterinary surgeon, receives their first standard vaccinations (5-in-1), is microchipped with an international ISO chip, and undergoes a comprehensive deworming protocol at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. You receive the complete veterinary health card.

How do you ensure puppies are suitable for young children and families?

Our breeding focuses foremost on temperament. Raised entirely inside our home environment, our puppies are introduced to varied sensory experiences, gentle family handling, water exposure, and everyday domestic sounds from their earliest weeks to develop calm, steady, and affectionate family companions.

At what age can our puppy come home with us?

In accordance with ethical South African breeding standards, puppies strictly leave our care at 8 weeks of age. The critical 6 to 8-week developmental window provides essential socialisation with their mother and littermates.

Can we collect our puppy in person, or do you use puppy couriers?

Both options are welcome. Families are invited to collect their puppy directly from our home kennel in Gauteng once they reach 8 weeks. For families located elsewhere in South Africa, we coordinate with accredited pet couriers and specialized pet flight services (BidAir Pet Lounge / CemAir) to ensure safe, climate-controlled door-to-door or airport-to-airport transit.

How does the puppy application and reservation process work?

You begin with a short enquiry on our contact page, or you can telephone or WhatsApp us. We review your family setup and garden suitability on a call, and if both sides agree, you can place a reservation deposit for our current or upcoming litter.

What does a Lochariko puppy cost?

We quote the placement fee on a call, once we have talked through your household, timing, and the current litter. The fee includes KUSA registration, an ISO microchip, first vaccinations, deworming, a transition starter pack, and ongoing advice from Kobus and Louwra. A reservation deposit is discussed when both sides are ready to proceed; it is not taken through this website.
